Galway Ensemble-in-Residence forms the cornerstone of a new Music Development Programme for Galway city and county that will bring the joy of music to Galway communities through performances, concerts, workshops and outreach activity.
At the heart of this activity is the ConTempo String Quartet.
The members of the ConTempo String Quartet, Galway Ensemble-in-Residence, are:
Formed in 1995 when students at the Music University in Bucharest, Romania, the ConTempo String Quartet have toured the world extensively and have won a record of 13 international prizes (London, Rome, Munich, Graz, Berlin, Prague, Hamburg, Cluj). The quartet has become one of the most celebrated young string quartets performing today.

ConTempo to Perform in 2009 Galway Arts Festival
16 July, 8:00 pm: ConTempo join Galway singer-composer Julie Feeney to showcase her new album pages.
18 July, 8:00 pm: ConTempo and Alexander Balanescu return to their Romanian roots in this concert, which will feature, among others, work from Balanescu's CD Maria T.
Concerts take place in St. Nicholas Collegiate Church.
