A New Chamber Orchestra for Galway!

The Galway Ensemble-in-Residence is currently seeking musicians to audition for a new Chamber Orchestra for Galway. This is an exciting opportunity for the finest instrumentalists in the West to work with renowned professional musicians in establishing a dynamic new orchestra for Galway.

Auditions for the new orchestra will be held Oct. 3 and 4 at the Galway Ensemble-in-Residence, 55 Corrib Village, Newcastle, Galway. Anyone interested in taking part or further information can ring (091) 586706.

Membership is open to high-calibre musicians, with up to 20 string players to be sought initially, and wind sections added in due course.

The Galway Chamber Orchestra plans to stage two concerts in its first year.

ConTempo Quartet are thrilled that the orchestra's initial period of establishment will be directed by Mark Duley, director of the RTE Philharmonic Choir, founder of Christchurch Baroque and Resurgam, and organist in St. Nicholas' Collegiate Church, Galway.

Duley and ConTempo are acting as the "engine" of the new orchestra, working to establish the highest possible standards, a flexible, corporate technique and a distinctive sonic profile.
